There seems to be wealth of experience on these forums so here goes.

I am relatively new to the FSX scene, and I've spend the past few weeks attempting to configure my PC for optimal FSX performance, in the process upgrading my 7900 GS video card to a 9600 GT.

Sounds like a V-sync problem. Did you make sure to check 'Force V-sync' in nHancer?

:)

i dont have that same video card, but i used to get that problem with sliders at about half. i installed alacrity that someone on here pointed me to, it shuts down all non essentian programs, now i have sliders almost maxed out and i dotn get it anymore, and my fps is between 20-30 in default FS i dont have any traffic or scenery addons

I can't say with 100% certainty that I "Forced V-sync" in nHancer, but I followed NickN's instructions to the letter double and triple checking the settings he perscribed.

I gave nHancer another shot last night and I can say with no uncertainty that the problem is worse with nHancer running (w/ Forced V-sync).  With nHancer running the flashes and scratches appear every few seconds, or more if I move the view around quickly.  Without nHancer the flashes and scratches occur much less frequently.

Oh well... I tried.  I guess I'll learn to live with it.
