ok i have been playing flight simulator X for a while now!! i have a problem with the landing.i can taxi, takeoff and fly wherever u want me to in any manner.now the problem is with the approach at the destination. i can see the runway but i cant align myself to the runway properly.i think i turn at the wrong time cos i end up landing parallel to the runway.how do i know wen to turn. also wat are the procedures for the landing.i mean wat should be the speed n the flaps etc.one more thing is i dont have a joystick at the moment and i am using a keyboard for the time being.it gets very difficult to control the aircraft. any suggestions. Please help me out.

Buy a Joystick  ;D ;)

Seriously that will also help a lot with your other problems as well.

As for speeds and flaps check the aircraft's checklists (Shift+F10, then go to checklists and reference pages)

Hope this helps!

Welcome to Sim-V  ;D 8-)

..and don't forget to spend many hours...days...weeks...months..... practising in the Default Cessna 172 Trainer, (or downloaded Cessna 150/152), before going anywhere near another (Passenger Jet, etc) Aircraft!... :o...!

"Trainer Prop Aircraft" are for obtaining your Pilots Licence first!....

..trust me/us...;)...!

F..G-BPLF...FS 2004.... 8-)...!

...and you definitely require a "Joystick" equipped with "Twist" and "Throttle" controls, for Rudder and Throttle Control!

I agree that you should buy a joystick as soon as you can. It will tranform your simming experience.... and "transform" is not strong enough to explain how much things will change for you :)

For the landing, I have a very simple trick: Look at the runway while you're still approaching. Try to "extend" it in your mind, make it, say, 3 or 4 times longer, make it a very long line, and then choose a point on this line that is far enough from the beginning of the runway, and just fly there, go to this point that you have chosen.

When you are more or less over this point, turn toward the runway. You may not be perfectly lined with it, but it should be ok, and at least you will still have plenty of time to correct your lining. If it's already too late, that means that the point on the line that you have chosen was still too close to the runway, so choose another point further away.

See ? The trick is simple: don't try to make your lining manoeuver too close to the runway. Give yourself more space and time, go "away" from the runway first, then take your time to line-up properly, without stress.

When approaching the start of the runway for the Flare, always keep your eyes on the "Far end" of the runway, NOT on the area immediately in front of you, and give yourself time to adjust the height and speed in advance of the perfect landing!

Train..train...train... ;)...!

Have the runway in the middle of your screen, and do what the others said.

And if you don't have a joystick, I recommend using the mouse to fly, much easier than using the keyboard :)

Learn to use ILS, i can completely take off turn and land with out ever touching or needing a joy stick. but having a joy stick sure makes it nicer, youcan get one at best by for 20 bucks.

I got my 1st stick, a low end Saitek, for $19.95 at WallyWorld many moons ago.  I gotta warn ya though!  Once you get a stick you will get completely (re)addicted to FSX!!!!!

I now have a Saitek X52 Pro........and I got totally re-addicted when I upgraded! :D

I remember the first time I ever flew FS95 was with the keyboard. I've been using a joystick ever since... ;D

Trust us, a joystick will make it easier
