change from vista home to windows xp?

for my laptop, currently running 1.66 ghz, 4gbs of RAM, 50 gb HD, im not looking stunning graphics, just want to smoothly fly my Captain SIM 757, it currently runs at 2 fps lol

You definitely won't see the 18-25 FPS improvement, that you're looking for.

Your hardware is really holding you back.

yea i figued as much. i get by with the Captain Sim C130 at about 10 fps, it doesnt bother me much. but the 757 only gives me 2.2 on the laptop lol.  my desktop is a whole different story works super well.

but i drag my lap top back and forth to the firehouse, and FSX helps pass the time, but hey im happy flying the c130 on my laptop so ill just stick with that for now.

its great on my desktop i can keep it at about 20 fps, i wish you had the option to disable the VC in the ACE like you do with the C-130. that saved me a few frames :D

Im almost thinking of dropping to FS2004 on my laptop

i dropped to 2004 on my laptop, i find that good scenery is much more enjoyable than all other factors. i mostly fly the lancair anyway since im going to inherit one as soon as i get my license.
