FSX Installer Issue

I'm trying to reinstall FSX after a system crash....I've reloaded all my other software w/o a hitch, when trying to put FSX back on, it loads all the way to the end of disk 2, then I get a "1722 error, problem with windows installer......"

I'm using XP, that was reloaded last week....

I need to fly :'(

Any clues?

Yes

You need to install the patch from here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928080

It fixes the 1722 error

Make sure to follow the directions very carefully and you can NOT copy/paste the command line. it must be manually typed

You get a gold star, AND the use of FSX for using the forum search function

Best keep the information at hand since my experience indicates
that the "Error 1772" will happen again, thanks to M$'s insistance
on validating and revalidating the installation every hour that
you run FSX.

During this "re-validation"process, FSX is accessing the "Crypto\RSA"
files several thousand times over a period of 5-20 seconds.
If for any reason FSX decides to crash while this totally unnecessary
re-validation process is running, you will wind up with a corrupted FSX
and the error message.

You would think that after the initial validation process at the start-up
of FSX, M$ wouldn't need to do it again until the next time you start FSX.
This is not the case...it hapens again at T+30 minutes, T+1 hour, T+2 hours,
etc....this reeks of sloppy or lazy programming, IMO.

FSX in general, and in several areas, has that reek to it

I have decided this release is more a stepping stone for a new rendering engine and to incorporate DX10. I really hope they get their act together on 11 which should reflect the lessons learned from X

well, i got FSX on my comp now. but it was like "RAWR FSX HUNGRY, ME EAT HARDRIVE SPACE!!!" my comp can just barely run it. so, i might just take it off and wait till i get a new one. :P lol, to me it seems they spent more time with the soundtrack than with the programming.

I'm pulling FSX off my old computer and putting it on a new one so it will run better and I got the 1722 and 1603 error, I'll give the patch a try. It's a brand new Dell laptop...we'll see how it runs
