A few seconds after clicking on my desktop fsx icon I get this error message eg 1.00000000000000000000000000is greater than 1.000000000.000000000000000000. The error has no number and gives no info and I just click ok on it and fsx loads up. After flying for approx 2 hours the computer locks up.The only way to get out is a manual reset.I thought it might have been a recent a/c or scenery I installed so they were removed but that did not help.Has anyone an idea as to what is causing this error and how to fix it.Thanks

I have narrowed it down slightly by removing the effects folder, the error disappears. I can find nothing in the effects themselves that pertain to what the error shows but the textures folder in effects does have some references similar to the error in the effects cfg. If I remove the effects cfg will fsx replace it or has this discovery give anyone a clue to this problem?

More info. Removed the effects cfg and the texture folder but the error message is still there. Only by removing the effects folder does the error message disappear. It seems to be an effect but which one! Anyone have any ideas? The only effect problem that I have noticed since my fsx reinstall a short while ago was the touchdown effects are missing the smoke billows on touchdown all I get are little puffs of smoke behind the wheels when rolling down the runway. But this was well before any error message started showing up. I have run out of ideas short of removing all of my effects If I do that how will it effect fsx.

you installed or edited an FX file that has 2 numerical values backwards in its list
1. Did you edit any FX files lately?
2. Did you install any addons right before this happened?
One of those 2 will be the answer

I think Nick has the right idea.I have not edited any files so it must be an effects file. What I am doing now is adding back in my effects files a few at a time. I am pretty sure to find the culprit. When I do I will let the forum know. I have a couple of suspect add on a/c.
