Is there any way to make the default terrain textures not so blurry at a distance?

You can increase the LOD_RADIUS in the FSX.cfg up to 5.5, but this will have a deep impact on the performance.

Real-life, foggy, misty, rainy, cloudy, hazy, smoky, etc, scenery will always be blurry in the distance...

..that's what real life is all about!...;)...!

You can rarely see the scenery clearly beyond 3- 5 miles in the distance!

I have my Flight Sim clear visibility set to 10 miles maximum, when on a clear day.

It gradually becomes clearer as I progress towards it...

What was valid for FS9 is still valid for FSX, that's why his advises are usefull :)

The unlimited view distance is very unrealistic. The most realistic scenery rendering will be with a view distance of 60 kms maximum, and less is even better, depending on where you're flying.

Also, the textures can appear blurry when flying with 1x zoom... but you're not supposed to fly with such a zoom. I have found that in the VC, 0.50x is the most realistic field of view that you can get. The textures will look much more sharp.
