OK this is probably a simple thing But I cant figure it out.

First I set airport to Torry Pines with a sailplane, then
I went into weather and set wind from west to East at 16kts
to create a ridge lift off the cliffs. I keep coming up
with no lift.

????

Maybe you're mixing up the numbers? Wind direction is where the wind is coming from. Ie. A wind heading of 090 means, that it's coming from East :)

What are CCS2004 dat files ?

The Slope Data Base Tool ( http://www.luerkens.homepage.t-online.de/peter/ ) Uses them to give FS terrain proper elevation
Explains it better here
http://www.luerkens.homepage.t-online.d ... X_main.htm

Right now I downed some of the NASA ones
ftp://e0srp01u.ecs.nasa.gov/srtm/versio ... h_America/
use Global earth to find the Long/Lat position and download it and import it. He says the CIAT files are better but I haven't found the
files I want yet.

But... you don't need that with FSX.
You simply have to use Simprobe. Simprobe analyses the terrain shape around you and tells CumulusX what to do. It replaces the slope database, in a dynamic way. Those slope database are only usefull for the FS9 users, because Simprobe dosn't work with FS9.

Well that makes it easier
Cool
So in the configuration do you keep the Slope Database Path empty?

Thanks

Sim Probe checked but now Red
Auto Thermals checked but now yellow

withe the DAT files they were all green.
