2 questions on the FSX native Beech King Air 350

Postby Ironhat2 » Fri Dec 19, 2008 4:26 pm

I like to fly this plane from the VC. I have 2 problems here though:
1. This is not a glass cockpit so i have no GPS. I looked in options controls. key settings but all the GPS selections have no key set. I can't figure out which is the main turn on/off one to set a key to/
2. The plane has a left and right main/aux fuel guage and a cross over flow switch. This is the only switch on the fuel panel that responds to putting the cursor on it. It's set to off by default but i can't get it to go left or right.

Both these are accessable in the 2d cockpit view via the icons that bring them up and both come up and the fuel cross over switch works, then if i switch to vc the fuel switch has moved and can be moved back to

The default King Air has a full range of drop down 2D panels that you can use when flying in VC.

Why don't you try this:

Shift+1, then all the way to Shift+8 and you will see the full range of subpanels that you can use.  Right-click, select Close Window and they go away.

The alternative is to get the drop-down menu under View in the on-screen strip menu (Alt press if not there) and you will see all the same options.

But please, get to know these basics of FSX ...  they really are elementary and are all explained in the Learning section, the kneeboard, and just through exploring the menus.  If you get nervous about doing this when flying, remember when you open a menu the plane stops until you have completed the action.

Programme your flight in the default flight planner, make sure you move the switch under the main Direction Indicator to GPS, press Nav in the autopilot.

A RW pilot programmes his autopilot on the ground before taxiing,  but do NOT turn it on until you are at least 500ft agl.

If someone developed an alternative panel for the default King Air it would be great, because otherwise it is a good model.

Thanks guys. That really helps. I'll take some time in the learning center as well.  :)
