Where's the 'Aircraft' folder?

I recently bought FSX, works fine but where's the 'Aircraft' folder to put add-on aircraft into, I can't find it in the FSX directory!
(Used to do it all the time in FS2004 no problem)

It got moved in FSX.

FSX/SimObjects/Airplanes

You could always use the search function. It works wonders.... ;D

Under SimObjects you will also find a subfolder for Rotocraft - that is where Helicopters are added.

Good luck!

As others mentioned here, in FSX the folder is now called "Airplanes"
however, if you would like to keep your addons in separate locations
that is easily accomplished by adding lines to the fsx.CFG file under
the "MAIN" section.
Here is mine...notice I have no use for "animals" and have removed
that path from the FSX environment. I have added additional folder
locations for other 'simobjects', organized to my liking:

Code: Select all
[Main]
User Objects=Airplane, Helicopter
SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes
SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft
SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles
SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats
//SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals
SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Misc
SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Aircraft
SimObjectPaths.6=M:\FSX AI Aircraft
SimObjectPaths.7=M:\FSX Military AI
SimObjectPaths.8=I:\FSX Military Aircraft
SimobjectPaths.9=I:\FSX A6 Aircraft
SimObjectPaths.10=SimObjects\Propliner Aircraft

Okay thanks i'll keep it in mind about separate add-on folders..
Incidentally I've got a lot of FS2004 add-on aircraft, shall I import them into FSX to see if they work, or would that be risking messing up FSX in some way?

PS- what's that "I love YaBB" stuff under my screen-name, what's it mean and who put it there?

Import the FS9 aircraft into a seperate folder. Keep all the gauges in
the aircrafts 'panel' folder. That way it will be much easier to sort
out the incompatible gauges, etc.

FS9 aircraft must be viewed on a case by case basis with regards
to functionality in FSX. Some import just fine, others are not worth the effort.

Anything without a functional VC is, IMO, not worth importing
into FSX.
