how can i tell if i have already installed SP2 or if i am still running SP1?

Probably when you go to the main FSX folder, right click on the FSX.exe and choose properties/version.

For me it says FSX-Xpack (I have acceleration installed).

In the start menu click on control panel then add and remove programs. On the top of the page click on show updates.  Scroll down list till you find FSX. If you have SP2 installed it will show it here. This is where you un-install it if you want to get rid of it.
