REX+FEX

Hello All,

For what its worth: My modest(until next week) system: E6600 OC to 3.2 on  an Asus P5B with 2 Gb Corsair 800 RAM(4-4-4-12) and 8800GT using 180.48 + NHancer and set up using ALL of Nick Ns suggestions will not handle all of REX even using 1024 tex load.

So, I expermented and am using REX sparkling waves, custom Ocean color and airport textures with FEX with no problem. No smoothiness hit.

Thanks again Nick.

Thats correct

4096 cloud textures (or textures above 1024) will hit the system and eventually everyone finds that out when they calm down from looking at dramatized and defined clouds and realize that busy hub runs smoother with 1024 clouds installed if they are pushing scenery.

FS9 and FSX are different in they way they render clouds.. there are more sides to a FSX cloud and large resolutions will impact performance

There is no such thing as a free lunch

I much prefer a softer more natural sky and do not like clouds that look like a painting.. and nail frames when I am coming into LAX

The hi-res clouds are great for still images and screenshots and they can make some very dramatic skys which in some cases really look nice but I personally find them somewhat dramatized for real life and the hit around big hubs is not worth it to me. I can drop my scenery settings but then I lose what I had in visuals to run hi-res clouds which is not an option for me.

That
