I noticed that when I land with the airbus, I cannot turn the wheel to taxi off the runway.  I can only go forward or straight back. I imagine it makes sense for the wheels to be locked to go in one direction upon landing but I am no expert. Is there something I have to disengage, or is this a bug? I would save, exit the game, and load back up to find my wheels turnable. But I'm tired of doing that, I just want to taxi to the gate after I land. Thanks in advance.

Is Autopilot completely off?

Do you have crash detection on? If so you probably hit the nose too hard

@ndude737.....Crash detection is on....my landings are getting smoother so I don't know if that's the problem. Then again I'm new so I'll look into that.

It's frustrating when I'm on an approach trying to slow down while lining up for the runway when all of a sudden the throttle goes full for a while and I lose control of my speed. And why does it happen on approach when that's the time to go slow down?

You should be in complete control of the aircraft you are flying. You should be able to land without the autopilot.

The AP is only doing what you have programmed it to do, it's probably putting in full throttle because you still have the AP trying to maintain a set altitude whilst you are trying to go to slow to maintain that altitude.

I'm not having a go, you can play around in the Airbus to your hearts content, but you will get a lot more out of your simming if you start slowly. For a little while, learn the basics of handling, navigation, ILS & autopilot in a single engined prop. In a while you can apply that knowledge to larger planes, you'll be amazed at the difference.

I know I know.....I'm getting ahead of myself. I grew attached to the Airbus I have in a saved flight. It's my official world tour plane (the first jet I jumped into and left JFK with).  I have a certain way I want to travel the world., I don't want to just jump to a location but fly there. And I wouldn't fly an ultralight from JFK to Miami.
But you guys are right. Back to lessons.

I don't even know how to program AP. The AP light is always off. I was not trying to fly with autopilot, that's why I don't understand why it kicks in (only when I'm trying to land). I'm still looking into the wheel lockup thing.

So I will keep the Airbus parked at St. Thomas for now and continue my journey as I learn more through the lessons.

maybe you are accidentally hitting the autopilot button (which is Z) upon landing

You didn't say just how much flying experience you have. The suggestions so far are right on. Did you do the ultrilight tutoral missions? I know thats not the most exciting aircraft to fy for some people but if you cant comfortably get through those starter missions you shouldn't even think of an air liner.

Once you get comfortable with the ultrilight i'd suggest a couple short flights in the Piper Cub. Pick a starting airport or strip, take off , go up to about 1500 ft circle back around and land. When you have that down move up to something like one of the Cessna 172 planes and do some short flights on from the same airport. We all want to be super pilots but its best to take it slow at first or you may be on the road to total fustration with FSX.

My comments were to the OP and any new players.

Check that the autopilot AND the yaw damper are off.

I did go through the tutorial lessons and pretty much have no problem with the smaller (non-jet) aircraft. The ultralight is no problem. The basics I have down. Just have to keep practicing. I just have to learn how to use instruments which I am currently reading about. I been looking up the fsx Airbus on the net and it seems this just is not a good plane to fly inexperienced. I was warned about it already and now I know for myself. I also notice a lot of people having trouble with it. I'm going to learn some more and fly another jet other than the Airbus.

I just thought of that, the Yaw Damper may be on usually labeled YD near the AP but it can be activated without the AP on. I don't know where it is on the airbus though.

But good choice on going back to basics. Once you get back into the jets try the Learjet or CRJ first.  Once you get into the airiners the 737 is a good one to learn on, fun to fly and you dont have to mess with the finicky fly by wire system.  ;)
