Hey
I was trying to download some military jets but nothing happens they dont show up .I Downloaded them into a seperate folder and then copied them. After 3 tries with different aircrafts I tried a helicopter and put it in the folder for it. I dont know why I cant find them on my screen when I open fsx. Is it because the thing is full or something? I know for sure i wasnt downloading textures. If anyone has any ideas please tell me.
Thanks!!

What do you mean when you say they do not show up? Do you mean you can not see a image in the select aircraft menu If so then you are missing a image file called a thumbnail FSX is different from FS9 it uses a thumbnail for the image in the select aircraft menu and this file has to be in the texture folder. Each texture has its own thumbnail file to represent the different PAINTS or skins.
Or do they not show up after selecting them? :-?

Hey
Sorry for the long time i was having trouble with my password.
I regisetered again, So, the problem with the downloads is that when i download then and unzip them like they tell me to and then when i put them in the files for the flight simulator and enter the select airplane screen the planes and jets and helicopters arent there, like no image or anything. I cant select them because they arent there. I have added two normal planes and thats when it ended. the select aircraft screen is full and its like i guess i cant add anymore or something. i can put in two new jets and thats it after that i cant add any more. You can reply to me on any of the two profiles but preferably on this one.
Thank You for your time
Patrick :)

As far as I know, there are no limits on how many aircraft you can install.  There are three possibilities

1) they are not fsx compatable, or...

2) they are not installed correctly.

Let's look at the first possibility:  Exactly which DL's are you having trouble with?

Hi
I'm having trouble with any DL's after the two that i have installed. that is when i would need a new line to scroll down but i never get any more planes in after the two that arent the default ones. I installed them correctly and after that they just wont show up in my select aircraft screen. I dont know but i think they arent compatible.
Thanks a lot and if you know something, Please tell me!!

What aircraft are you trying to add? Something you got here on SimV? Its possible its not a FSX designed plane, so you would have to alias things like the panel, sound, etc... But first things first.... what are the planes?

Its any plane, like i cant add any plane after i fill the screen if i delete one of the planes any put a new one in that one apeers. But as soon as that one is in i cant put any new ones in. This goes for any plane military, civil, vintage, any, including helicopters. :(
Ohh yeah any how do you alias those things you need a program right?
I got the planes from this site, any two always work but after that it stops. Like if you take a look at your select aircraft screen you'll notice that there is enough space for two aircraft other than the ones that came with FSX. I fill up those two spots and then it wont start a new line to add more aircraft.

Hi Patrick. Please give an example of an aircraft you're having problems with. Tell me the file name & the exact page it's posted on so I can download it & check it out for you.

You can open & edit CFG files in Notepad which comes with all versions of Windows & should be already on your PC. Make sure the Panel.cfg files of the problem aircraft are not aliased to an aircraft not included with FSX (like the FS9 default B737_400). This a common reason for aircraft not being listed on the FSX selection menu. It's easily fixed by aliasing them to one you do have like the B737_800. Other examples of default aliases are listed on the aircraft installation tute already mentioned.

Not sure I understand this. There is no limit to the number of installed aircraft that I know of. There should be a scroll bar on the right-hand side of the Select Aircraft menu. Alternatively you can use the options at the top to list aircraft by Aircraft manufacturer, Publisher or Aircraft Type to reduce the number of aircraft listed.*

*I suspect this might be the cause of your problem. Try setting these options to ALL. Also make sure the 'Show all variations' box is ticked.

Sorry for it being so long
Ok so i checked it out and the aircraft that dont apeer are mostly the Milititay ones. I mean i installed the effects and gauges and then i aliased the panel and sound to the learjet or boeing 737 800. After i installed the gauges and effects i delete those folders. Could that be the problem? i had trouble with some of the civil jets but they usually show up. Its like my FS is racist or something and doesnt like military. I dont know what i am doing wrong. oneof the ciivil jets i had problems with was the United arilines 757 222 at the bottom of this page. http://www.simviation.com/simviation/st ... 60&page=10
Military is pretty much any aircraft that i cant get to work
thnk you

No.

Just checked it out. The sound.cfg needs editing to point it at the FSX default B737_800 but that wouldn't prevent it appearing on the selection menu. I can see no reason why you should have a problem.*

Sorry but I'm not a clairvoyant. If you want help please be more specific & give examples.

*PS. Make sure the "United airlines 757-222" folder directly containing the usual Model, Panel, Sound & Texture sub-folders is not hidden inside another one.

There's no difference between military or civilian aircraft when it comes to installing them, and FSX wouldn't know the difference.  747, F-15, it's all the same to FSX.

What specific military aircraft add-on did you try to install?

I have discovered that if a model is missing its panel folder it will not show in FSX. But, of all the models I've gotten from here only a couple had this issue, and it tells how to resolve it in the read-me.
Read-me files are so underappreciated sometimes. ::) ;)

On the F-15E, the only thing I saw that would have cause it to not show up was that the "panel.f15" folder was in a separate zip folder, along with a "gauge" folder.  The "panel.f15" has to be dropped into the aircraft folder, and renamed simply "panel".  Just knock off the
".f15"

Even at that, it's an FS9 "adaptation", and you will get a few "no longer supported" warnings when sellected.
