I have the standard FSX with SP2 and I know you can get the Grumman Goose and Maule Orion working by simply placing a panel in the folder. However, I have a question about doing it.

In their folder's there are 2 cabinet files. For the Maule it is in the aircraft's folder, but in the Grumman it is within a 'panel' folder. Is their any way to get the planes working by using these files or do you have to use ones from other planes?

If you look in the Maule Orion panel, you'll see the same cabinet folder which is in your aircraft folder. if you know how, you could create the panel.cfg.

The .cab files are the (xml) gauges. To make them available they should be in either the; 1)panel folder-makes them available for that panel, or 2) in the main Gauges folder-available to any aircraft/panel.

The problems... 1)Though gauges are relatively easy to place in a 2D panel, there are no .bmps included for the 2Dpanel. 2) If you do create a panel folder(1), you will have a vc, but missing gauges (though you will have controls, those mapped in the model). Placing the missing gauges is difficult as the mapping coordinates are not straight forward like they are in a 2D panel.

(1) Creating a panel folder and  an 'empty' text file named panel.cfg will make the ac 'flyable'.

The missing gauge is there but in the wrong location. Funny how things turn out.
