Yes, do what I suggested in your post that has the grid. Then if that don't work, come back and tell us. ;)

Edit: My bad, just seen your post. :-[ post your complete list of settings for the display section.

okay here it is :

Level of detail radius:large

Mesh complexity:70

Mesh resolution:10m

Texture resolution:7cm

Water effects:Max 2.x

[x] land detail textures

Scenery complexity:dense

Autogen density:normal

[] Ground scenery shadows

Special effects detail:high

p.s. the x in the [] means its checked

Try maxing out the first two, and on the graphics page, if it's not already, set the Global texture resolution to max also and see if that does it. ;)
Now bear in mind this will probably have an effect on performance, and is for resolving the texture issue only, if you have a smooth flying sim now, and jerky afterwards, but the grid problem is gone, you will have to decide which is more important to you. Performance or eye candy.
Generally, eye candy for screen shots, performance for flying. When I still flew in FSX I had my settings low to enjoy flying, but would then crank them up for a couple of quick screen shots. Not everyone agrees with this method, but it worked for me, and may work for you also. No two conputers are alike, and these settings may not even affect your performance, likewise it may also turn it into a stuttering snail. Let me know how it goes.

Get water down to 2x1 or mid 1x.  Its a killer.  Also look at the autogen fix that is readily available that reduces the number of trees and buildings per grid.  Autogen is a big killer so experiment with the sliders.

But get the global texture resolution high.   Some of your other settings such as texture resolution at 7cm, mesh resolution to the scenery you're flying over (although having at 10mtres makes little difference it your underlying mesh is coarser) should also come back.

Check what your anti-aliasing is set at, it too can knock back performance.

Turn off bloom effect, and also aircraft casts shadows on itself unless you are running well.

If this is a bit too much of a summary, go to the stickies at the head of this forum, and read the recommendations in the FSX tuning thread made by NickN and others and follow them carefully.  The difference and the improvement is awesome.
