FSX on its own doesn't support DX 10 mode, but it works if you download Service pack 2 : http://www.fsinsider.com/downloads/Page ... Pack2.aspx

But you have to install service pack 1, then service pack 2.

have acceleration...contains both? still trying to find a way to reduce stutters  without using the dx10 mode since alot of planes don't show up there with their clothes on...........

The Service Pack 2 doesn't 'have' DX10, it just allows you to run FSX in a DX10 mode

even though the frame rates are sometimes up to 100 or beyond..but they do dip to the teens or less, ....

Have you tried locking your fps? Several users had similar problems with unlimited fps and improoved their situation by locked fps...

Most likely not the cause, but did you check out NickN's guide to make Vista 32 recognize the full 4GB RAM?

Try fiddling with the fsx.cfg.

If you are seeing 100FPS then you do not have FSX or the video driver set up right assuming your monitor is not a CRT and has a 100Hz+ refresh rate

Forget DX10

Normal mode, DX9

Lock frames at 30 when you are outside large metro areas.. unlimited only when entering or leaving large city areas.

Video driver needs to have Vsync LOCKED or FORCE ON. Vista after the SP1 update requires a driver produced after a certain date to invoke the call to allow Vsync to work. Make sure you are using driver 174.74 or above in Nvidia

With Vsync properly locked you can not go over monitors Vsync setting because video system will hold at the same sync rate as the monitor> Most LCDs are 60, some are 75 but in any case it prevents tearing and 'wiggle' of the image.. something many mistake for stutters.

Make sure you have the latest version installed from Nhancer.com

I still use the 174.74 beta driver for XP x64. I can not vouch for it in Vista since I do not use Vista but it is located here:

Make sure your system is up to date with all Windows updates for Vista

thanks very much nick...i don't deserve so much attention from a maestro....but thanks...and thanks for those links...tried to find that info but failed......so now i got something to work with...i had a friend help me to reformat and started clean...only he included a default raid where the d drive is sharing the load....i showed him what you wrote about raid regarding the larger clusters, but he had already installed it....i hope it won't be too detrimental...i'll be sharing with him this info. since he understands this language...not like me ...cheers, vic

funny.........loaded the beachcraft d18 without the prop fix. to replace the ultralite at friday harbour, and, hardly any stutters...even with antialias clicked in game.....go figure....anyways i won't milk this anymore..over the years im sure things will sort themselves out...

ok....did most of what nick suggested, although i didn't install nhancer yet as i didn't know whether to use typical..custom...or complete................................anyways, i discovered that in friday harbour, (installed vancouver+ scenery)...when i fly the ultralite, i still get plenty of stutters when i turn or pan and even sometimes when going straight........but....when, for example, i install the curtiss jenny, (great lookin)....no stutters....i can turn an pan and all's ok....i used the latest driver too ....the different drivers i tried had no affect on the stutters, so i thought i'd stick with the 178.13..............i tried a different faster card too...no difference.....configured comand prompt as bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 2560 ...althought i've got 4 gigs ram, task manager shows i'm using only 1.89ish gigs ram when running....again, i still don't get it ....cheers.........

I have found FSX Vancouver+ is a real killer of smooth.  Stutters even when sliders are pulled back.  It's great for screen shots with the plane on pause, but otherwise I have unchecked it in the scenery folder and I will wait for a less demanding version to be made.

Its a pity as it is a great scenery.

regretfully, i don't think there will be any upgrades to this scenery, and since i live here, i'll still stick with it ....but why do i get tons of stutters with the default hang glider and almost none with, for example the curtiss jenny?.......sorry to repeat myself....anyways...i won't milk this anymore.......i'll go back to lying in the middle of the field, smelling the flowers...like ferdinand the bull

Yanc, I had the 178.13 driver for Nvidea and I got stutters and odd screen freezes. So I went on Nvidea forums and as I read post after post I found that the 178 drivers are causing problems in a huge number of other games, no matter what their OS was. From many of the post or replies on Simvation I read that a lot of folks are using 174.74 so I switched my driver, and no more stutters. I know this isnt a cure-all, but I'm just passing this along to you.
