I'm having a problem with the FSX F-117 from http://www.simviation.com/simviation/st ... =64&page=6. Whenever I'm behind the cockpit in exterior views, I get a black square on top of the cockpit.

Anyone know the fix?

This will be one of the many incompatibilites between FS2004 & FSX showing up. The panel you are seeing will have been created as transparent in FS2004 but that is not translating into FSX.

I think you are lucky if this is the only problem with it. If you can use the aircraft in other aspects I think you can live with this - don't you think? :)

Hmmm, You know, I believe I have that same aircraft, yet it doesnt have the black square. I'll have to double check, but Im almost certain I do have it, minus that problem.

Probably depends on which version of FSX you have. RTM (as it comes),  SP1, SP2 etc. There are so many possible variables now it's difficult to check these things out for all systems.

I've got Deluxe with Acceleration.

I've got Deluxe with Acceleration.

That probably explains it. From what I've read on this forum I wouldn't expect an FS9 model to be fully compatible with FSX/SP2.

Nope, thats not the problem. I dont have deluxe... but I do have Acceleration/SP2. Could this be a graphics card issue? And I double checked, this is the same F117 I have.

Well, maybe not necessarily the model of graphics card... as mine is even lower than yours. Got the latest drivers? I know that on the lights, I sometimes get a really quick black box, then it becomes the light once it loads. But this happens very quickly. Does the box ever go away? Like if you pause the sim and let things load?

No, it doesn't go away. Socialgarbage said change the alpha channel of the panel texture, but I'm not really sure which one it is.

Well, I just tried it and the box goes away from the front views of the plane but when I swing around to the rear, I can see it agian. I'm gonna look and see if there is another panel I can use altogether.

It's easy enough to alias it to a default panel to try your theory. I know FSX is different in some respects from other versions of FS but I don't see how the 2D panel can affect the visual model of the aircraft from external views.

Well this is the progress so far. All it is, is a theory for now. But I'll keep working the problem.  ;)
Off to try the panel alias.
