I dont think there would be game-specific drivers. Usually the latest are the greatest as most of the problems will have been fixed and the technology utalised the best. But, you are using BETA drivers... and well, they are in BETA.

I believe the best driver is 174.74.

...When it comes to Drivers, just remember the wise old saying...>>>

"Newer is not always better"...;)...!

With many of my previous Graphics cards I have had to experiment with a range of Drivers to find the most suitable, and reliable..and often revert back to older ones!..

(Many times, the Drivers on the CD that came with my Graphics Card often proved to be the best!)

The trick is to always remove all traces of your previous Drivers by running in "Safe Mode" and using Driver Cleaner before installing new Drivers.

I agree with F above but must add that what works for one person does not necessarily follow for others.  Their are far too many variables involved for any two machines or cards to give the same result.

I have wondered this same thing concerning nVidia drivers. I have problems with my 8600 GTS all the time and not just in games. If I use any drivers other than the default ones that came with the computer, I can't play DVD's at all. I know what my answer is gonna be....

ATI!!!

Stupid Q, and probably the wrong place to ask:

How do I know where "parts" of older drivers are on my system....and get rid of them?

If I were to use Driver Sweeper, whats the best way to go?

That used to be my rule. It always seemed that the drivers that came bundled with the card worked best.. even years later.

It's a different world now..especially with 8X00 series cards from nVidia, and DX10. The drivers that came with my 8800GTS won't even WORK AT ALL with FSX and DX10

Will that driver work with the good, and old, nvidia 7xxx series?

Here we go, you'll find the 174.74 drivers for all systems there.

The 174.74 is a central point for me. If i try a driver and do not find improvements, i'll always revert back to the 174.74.
