Auto Gen Senery Question

Hi, I noticed that when the dynamic slider moves it adds detail to airports such as gates. The problem Im having is my pc is way under minimum specs to run the game. I do however have enough power to run an airport alone with every single detail.

I was wondering if there was a way of only allowing airport auto gen and scenery objects and blocking out trees and buildings completely. This way I can enjoy a fully working airport with terminal buildings and gates with ground traffic without running at .5 FPS  ;).

I have set the autogen in the FSX.Cfg to 0 trees and 20 buildings but I still have hundreds of trees and 200 buildings at seattle.. I am running SP1 aswell wich made me able to run the game without problems minus the buildings.

Believe it or not here are my system specs. (im building a new machine but that won't be here for another 6 months).

Geforce 2 MX 400 (I get about 10fps min with every setting on  minimum, high-quality gauges and max terrain mesh settings wich is pretty good I guess).
P4 1.6ghz
512mb ram
20gb operateing drive
40gb  Data drive

Thanks  :),
Aiden

Autogen tweak that might help
Many of you have been frustrated that you can't control the density of autogen trees verses buildings because we only have one slider to cover both of them. Some have also been frustrated that our lowest autogen setting is more dense than FS2004 at max density.

If you add these two lines to the [TERRAIN] section of your FSX.CFG, you can define the max number of objects in a terrain cell for trees and buildings independently. The slider will scale down from the numbers you set as the slider is moved to the left. The max tree value in FSX as released is coded to default to 4500 and the building default is 3000 (as shown below) and the absolute max FSX will recognize at all is 6000. Of course if you raise the values beyond the defaults, you will obviously be increasing density and lowering fps (so don't complain if you do this...). The point in sharing this information is that with these settings you can specify what the values are yourself. Set buildings or trees at 0 and you won't get any of those objects no matter where the slider is set.

TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=4500

TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=3000
this is quoted from the sticky at the top of this forum. 8-)

I mentioned that above, I have trees set to 0 and buildings set to 20 but its not helping. Is there a way to delete everything but airports? There must be something specifying what gets what.

Thanks for your reply!

EDIT: Wait, that looks difrent what I put in. I think I missed 1 word. Ill give it a try!

Edit2: Yep, I have exactly that but still hundreds of trees and buildings...I wonder if theres a minumum amount you can specify?

In the game settings, put the scenery slider to max, and the autogen slider to min.

Thanks daube, that works well if the complexity is maxed out but the density is minimum.

I also jsut figured out a radical alternative.....

I noticed that the ILS Localiser antenna for runway 31 at harrisburg was located on the runway makeing it impossible to take off. I downloaded Airport Designer v1.20 and noticed not only I can move it but I can set when objects can apear....This means I could enable the objects to apear on the very sparse setting. This is a VERY slow process though but may be usefull for anybody who has lower specs than I do. Does anybody know where to put the compiled BGL?

Thanks,
Aiden
