Cpus and FSX question

I am not well versed on computer hardware but I am getting frustrated by how slow my present computer is in fsx. Considering a new mother board and cpu. MY present one has a 2.8 ghz intel cpu 2 gb ram and an ati x1650 video card. what cpu is best for fsx a quad 2 or 4

Quad 4 would be the better, I'm using a 2.5Ghz and I'm finding it fine. You could try turning down the display settings.

It amazing how some people are able to run FSX on a system like yours where as other, like me, have trouble getting good frame rates on my system. From what I have read, your system wont run FSX extremely well. A bit of tweeking might help, but FSX is a big CPU hog. An upgrade would help a lot

Thanks, I figured thats my problem. I have turned everything down as much as possible and still make it useable. However loading times are still very slow. I have Fsx on a separate HD by itself and try to keep my A/C and sceneries on a external HD until I use them but it has'nt helped much if any. Guess I will start some price shopping and try to go with a quad 4.

Keep everything FSX related on one HDD.
