Have been on this forum, since year 2000 i think.
Never had a good reason too ask for help before, But since i got FSX, deluxe and Acceleration exp pack. My luck have turned and never seen so many problems with a game before.
My problem is, that FSX is very unstabil and sometimes goes black, when i load the game or when i have looked at the map and stuff like that. Its very sensitive and im forced too save my flight all the time, because i never know when it goes black.
When it goes black, nothing happens and my comp is beeping.. And i need too restart my comp. >:(
That aint funny on a long flight and you are finally closing into the airport after hours of flight. :-P
My comp is about a little more than 1 year old and was pretty up too date, when i got it.
It has:
Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit
2g ram
2,40 gigahertz Intel Core 2 Duo
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS
And a Maxtor sata2 (i think) hd.
ive uptated vista, all drivers, reinstalled FSX and tried too follow some of the very good advice from NickN (You doing a great job, for supporting people).. Even cleaned inside the comp for dust. Nothing have helped me at all and now im giving up :-P
However other games, that got alot more complex gfx, like "Age of Conan" works fine (But prefer FSX :) )
I really hope i posted this at the right place and im sorry for the crappy english :-P

If you got nHancer, maybe the AA setting you've chosen isn't supported.

i have installed nHancer and tried some diffrent settings with AA.
My comp still goes black.. But i dont need too restart it anymore.
I can simple just close it. So that is progress i guess :-P
AA was turned off in the Nhancer, so tried too turn it on.
Will try all possible settings and hopefully i hit the right one :P
Thx for the help, really hope i can fix it (ive sold fs9 :( )
Btw, seems that Microsoft Games are pretty slow getting it fixed, ive heard, that many simply give up fsx and go back too Fs9. Bad support after my opinion, its rocket science too get FSX running ;D

Have you looked at the Nvidia/Nhancer setup by Nick N? It is someplace on this forum, I would suggest that you set up your GTS8800 per Nick's recomendations and see if that helps.
Also try and turn your FSX graphic settings down, especially traffic, and see if that helps. If it does then you will just have to play with the settings until you get them as high as they can go and still give you a stable game.

After some search, i did find NickN guide for Nhanced and now it seems too be alot more stabilized, not a single crash and the grafic is awesome, alot better than before.
Thx alot for the fast reply and ofc thanks too NichN for the great guides.
Boikat: Is the any information on the internet about FSII? ;)
Anyway, thx for the help :)

im sorry too take this up again.. But is in even bigger trouble now ;D
I gets two diffrent error now:
"A Fatal error occured" a Windows Warning than shut down the game.
and this one too
"You Display Driver stops responding"
Havent got both at the same time, so think its two diffrent errors.
Have followed almost everything possible and the first problem is gone. Just every time i find a solution for a problem, a new problem is born.
I never had so many trouble with an game before, and wont say im new in FS.. Been playing FS98 and got all versions up too FSX (Except FS2004, since i sold it. :-?)
Another thing, that i simple just can't understand is, that other game, with is knows as the most "Heavy" games for computers (Like Age of Conan, crappy game, but nice grafic)
FS is my favurite game and i would be really happy too find a solution. Again sorry for asking for help again, but cant find another solution :)

deltaleader:
I think its a "Intel Desktop Board DP965LT"
Anyway. seems that my problem was the water.
Didnt notice theres two diffrent water systems in the game
1.x and 2.x, i now use 1.x high. 2x seems too be bugged for me.
Not totally sure, its was the cause, because i have tried too reinstall all drivers and setup for FSX. but when i tuned Water 2.x down too 1.x The problems i had, is totally gone.
Don't know much about computers anymore, But also think that Vista and Harddrive, got too much too do and can cause failures. So thinking about buying a new fast Harddrive for FSX and maybe get the perfect setup got my favorite game FSX :)
cheers
Whimp

Thanks for the update Whimpy...
I will have to keep the water thing in mind. I use fast hard drives and a fairly fast processor. I Think the problem is a combination of Vista and Video drivers. Hopefully you can keep things stable! Good luck!

Use 2X Low for the water, Nick N said at one time it was a good setting to use whilst still maintaining a reasonable view of the water.
