You need the wireless USB thingy.

The charger won't give you connectivity, only power to charge. You need to fork out another

Pretty silly, to be honest.

You have to buy a separate controller, which is called the "Xbox 360 controller for Windows and Xbox 360"

Why not make it that in the first place...  ;D

I thought there was a software you could download that makes it compatible  :-?

You can, for the WIRED controller.

Crussell, as far as I am aware, the regular wired controller is that.

The USB bit is just a charger. To get the wireless controller to work on Windows, you need the USB hub... which accepts the wireless connection.

I agree, it is a bit wierd. The wireless controller was obviously just designed to be wireless I presume. Would have been better if the charger slot could turn into a wired controller. Exempli gratia, you take out the batteries if you want and run it as wired, instead of wired-for-charge-but-still-wireless
