Well there can be two solutions that I know of at least for this...
1. Make sure you turn on your ILS as soon as you can maybe 20 or 30 miles out...
2. Disengauge AP and etc. about 1-2 miles away from the runway...
I hope this works ;)

Setting the OBS doesn't make much of a difference, but it makes it easier when flying it manually.

To have the autopilot intercept the ILS you need to be within half sale deflection on the localiser (the left/right part) and beneath the glideslope. If you are above or out of tolerances the app mode wont capture the glideslope
That is correct.. and if I may.. please allow me to elaborate..
To have the autopilot intercept the ILS, you need have fully understood what the instrument flight is (from planning to landing).. completely understand instrument navigation.. and have flow so many ILS approaches manually (fully understood approach plate in hand) that you can do it in your sleep... THEN you start turning the task over to the autopilot and will be answering the next set of ILS questions for those determined to run before they walk

I have the same question please illuminate me.
I can use PMDG747 to autoland, just set FMC runway, click LOCK, 747 capture localizer and heading to runway automatically, then I press APP, that is it.
but when I fly Flight 1 super 80 pro and Captainsim 757, those steps I used in 747 fail to work. Both in 757 and super 80, I did set runway in FMC, set VOR and CRS on glareshield and then press Lock in 757 and press ILS in super80 but the aircraft's head didn't turn to runway. so I don't need to say app.
I didn't disengage autopilot after LOCK pressed, because there is no manual say I should disengage AP after pressing LOCK for autolanding. and in PMDG747 autoland is just LOCK and APP pressed.
anyone can teach me what mistake I made or any step I missed?
thanks alot in advance.
and if ok, could you tell me why 747 Pmdg is easy as lock and app but captainsim 757 and flight 1 super80 are not follow the easy two steps? among them which is, or are, not precisely meet the reality?
thanks

People should seriously start using their hands to fly the plane...
Not just to tune the instruments.

I only use ILS on Commercial Jets..
I like landing manually on props and fighter jets..
But sometimes ill do ILS on props just for tests.. ;)
