FSX SP2 Horrid Incompatabilities?

I am so frustrated with Flight Simulator X, every time I try to install an add-on aircraft it ends up with some kind of problem. Even if it was originally made for FSX! I am on the verge of total collapse and about to uninstall and destroy my FSX discs. I am just so frustrated, I've now spent over 48 hours trying to adjust FSX for best performance or to get add-on aircraft working, much more time than I have spent enjoying flying an aircraft within the game. I love the graphics and the features but everything is so buggy and add-on aircraft don't seem to work the way they should.
I'm not turning to X-Plane 9 as it does not have what I want but I am about to turn away from flight sims in general even though I love them because FSX just won't work right even though I've owned the game since release it has been far from enjoyable and downright frustrating for me

I dunno man, seems almost everything you are having trouble with, I also have, but have none of the problems that you have. But I dont know what is causing all your issues.

I've only had one issue with FSX (aside from a stray bug-types that have been common since FS98), and it turned out to be a motherboard BIOS problem.
The problems start when you try to cgf tweak in leiu of having adequate hardware (your hardware should be fine).. The other problems start with non 100% compliant add-ons (of any type, scenery to aircraft).
If you do a proper, clean install; rely ONLY on your hardware for performance (and have ALL the current drivers and BIOS); and use nothing BUT FSX compliant add-ons, you should be OK.
I'm not just trying to quell an anti-FSX thread from running amok. That's the honest truth.
You say yourself that you're trying to 'adjust' FSX.. and trying to get add-on aircraft to work. THAT is the problem. If the aircraft won't work on first install, it is NOT a true 100% FSX model... get rid of it.

Ok lets not go on a rampage about Microsoft and FSX...
Lets figure this out intelligently.
FSX runs fine if you set it up all right and didn't do any tweaking that might lead to problems.
Now...are these payware addons or just freeware? If it is payware have you gone on the manufacturer's website and ask for help on your problem? What changes have you made to your PC and FSX?

Freeware that was made specifically for FSX. Well I know that I can easily uninstall all of the add-ons as I have made a separate folder for add-on aircraft and I have backed up the effects folder...
I didn't try to do a Microsoft rant I was just talking about what's happening.
It's becoming apparent to me that so few things are compatible with FSX, out of the tens of planes that I've downloaded I've only found one to be 99% compatible and that was after a slight panel cfg tweak.
I guess add-on developers are skipping FSX for the most part.

Somewhere along the lines, it just sounds like something isnt being installed right. I dont know what or where, but your having problems with seemingly everything you try to install. Everything I have downloaded from the FSX freeware section here at SimV has worked for me. Some are great planes, some not so great. But they all have worked. Iver got many FS9 planes working quite well too. Granted, I dont care if it has a vc or not, its just a bonus if it does. You say you have made a separate folder where you put the downloaded planes. Do you mean you put the zip file in there to save incase you need it? Or is that where you are putting your planes for use in FSX?

Don't say developers are skipping FSX. FS9 is old and all products will be FSX based in the next 6 months. FSX is the future and just like all other technologies.

have you tried a clean install, and then only patching with SP1?
I have two machines, one desktop unit I built:
Core2Duo 2.4 GHz Q6600 4MB L2 Cache with Intel "Viiv" Technology
Intel D975XBX2 1066 MHz FSB
EVGA 8800 GTS 640 MB DDR3 Memory
2 Gigs OCZ DDR2
Windows XP Prof 32 Bit
WD 80Gb Raptor 10,000 RPM
unacceptable went to nice after sp1 was available.
