Press R during flight then press + to speed it up, and - to slow it down.

Press ALT->Options->Simulation Rate-> Whatever time acceleration you want. This is in the flight by the way.

If you don't have the patience to do long cross country flights, why don't you just stick with shorter flights?

In a sim, long hauls are only good for boasting and the sense of accomplishment IMO.

There's a lot of dead time where you don't get any better.

...any single flight taking an hour to complete, is a flight taking half an hour too long for me!... ;)...!

Try one from Hawaii to California at 320 knots, then talk about too long. Of course, you don't get the full effect if you accelerate.

...even with the Throttle Knob rammed fully into the instrument panel, my trusty Cessna 150 will never reach the supersonic speed of 320 knots!... :o...!

..... ;D...!

My Trusty Cessna 150 would be transformed into a plain, smooth, wingless aluminium Cigar Tube at 320 knots in a dive!... :o...!

...anything exceeding 90 knots is supersonic for me!... :o...!

If I have a long flight planned, usually I just save in mid flight somewhere, and just jump back into it again some other time.
