Lack of Quality FSX Freeware Add-on Aircraft

Anyone else noticed it? I mean I can't even find a suitable, full working, F-16, F-18, F-22, or A-10 military aircraft. All I can find are old FS2004 models which don't work well in FSX because the gauges and VC's are not compatible.

Have you ever tried to designing an FSX add-on?  It can take months to years, depending on how much time you have to invest in such a project.  That's why the "quality" FSX add-ons are usually pay-ware.

Creating Add-ons for FSX is often a thankless job. And the amount of time it takes to create these works of art can vary greatly. I for one am happy with the fact that these people share their hard work with us. I agree it seems that the new releases have been a little sporadic lately. but just wait a while. Sometimes there is a drought followed by a flood of new and exciting add-ons.

1) 90% of the add -on available on the internet are made using FS9-SDK wich READS BGL old compilation files..
FS9: structures compile under BGL CODE and read this ONLY this format

I have receive rude emails ,I have being insulted for the most stupid mistakes like a spoiler than doesn't close too well, or for the copilot I put in the VC, the worst insult ,the worsh humiliations like this one who claims he can do whatever he wants with freeware models because for him freeware designwers are Garbage to him the Great Nor Cal :
Oh don't hurt me mr vader lol
No you won't see me with any of your model's
because if I have not used them by now I
must not have found them worthy. Im done
here Im going to go fly with the thousands
who are reliving these great model's on fsx.

and if this continues By the FS11 there won't be ANY freeware ,all model will be paywares ,I don't get anything for my work only receive insult for free ..

He's just one of a few unappreciative morons. I'm believe most of us love your aircrafts, and appreciate your dedication, and the hard work you invested into designing your models

Hmm, funny. Kirk Olssons F-16 while is for FS2004, works beautifully in FSX. The F-18... come on now. One word - Acceleration. Not to mention the great F-18e/f by Team KBT. The F-22, there is a YF-22 (I know, its the prototype) but it works just fine. THe A-10, while I do have several of them, I would like to see one for FSX. Alrot has made several excellent FSX aircraft. For people to bitch and moan about trivial little things about what he has spent countless hours on is ludicrous. If you dont like what is available for free, try your hand at making one yourself.

But to answer your question, No... I have not noticed that there is a lack of quality freeware add-ons for FSX. I and many others are quite happy with what is available, and if something needs a little tweaking.. we figure it out.

Just out of curiosity, do you have SP2 installed?

I would be far happier at least if old aircraft made for FS2004 worked properly in FSX but they don't. :(

FS2004 had tons of great freeware models, FSX does not.

FSX was released in 2006, it is now 2008 and there is still a lack of quality add-ons.

Look, I would not mind paying for add-ons, but paying $29.99 for one plane is RIDICULOUS.

They work Fine in my computer..Nick is right ,its all about CFG, gentelmen this is a new tecnology ,It can't never be compare to FS9 old tecnology , I never had problems using FSX ,in fact ,I never use FS9 anymore (BTW I don't have a super computer ,I use an AGP video card) you can see my specs  below my signature

Because of the thing I said above ,we The Freeware designers are Not supported as the Payware designers ....I never made a payware.

I never meant that FS9 models looks bad in FSX ,on the contrary the FSx performing makes FS9 looks beter than in FS9

what I meant that FSX technology is more advance you can feel the bloom FX and the Bump effect in this shot taken by Daube, this FX can't be dome in makemdl9

Image

also in this test shot ,Brett and I are working Hard at this moment in this plane you can see the same FX but doesn't show too good because of my limited video card

Alrot,

Dont mind the unappreciative people, they are either

1. Jealous at your mad skills  ;D

2. Mad at you because your aircraft is to advanced for them

I love all of your aircraft alrot, the 727 is Awesome  8-)

And whoever gets angry because of a female copilot...really ? what are you 3 and think they still have cooties ?

I'd be happier if some of the older FS9 add-on woked better too, but *realistically* you have to remember that a lot of them were designed long before FSX came out.

I'm getting ready to start my first "From the ground up" add-on. FSXI is supposed to be coming out some time around 2011.  How in the world am I supposed to predict what I'm going to have to do to make sure "Project 1" will be compatable with FSXI?

Like someone else said, if you find the lack of "quality" FSX add-on's so distressing, I would suggest downloading the needed software and giving it a go.

Personally, I'm more than satisfied with the majority of *freeware*, and the only reason I'm getting into the add-on "biz' is because there are more than a few add-ons that simply do not exist that I would like to see.
