I've read the guide on how to fix it but I can't seem to find the glass texture file that I need to convert. Can anyone please point me to the file?

Hmmm.... strange... mine didnt do that. Gotta do some searching, there are fixes for that kinda thing.

I've searched google and I've searched this site extensively the only thing that I was able to come up with was that FSX SP2 broke the transparency of the VC's but I can't get rid of SP2.

I have never had this problem with this plane, but I have had this problem with the Kirk Olssen F-16.  Do a search in the FSX forum on this site for alpha channel and/or a program called DXTBmp.  If it is the same problem you need to change the alpha channel using DXTBmp.

Yes, I know of the program and I used it to fix my F-16 but I don't know which texture file to change the alpha channel to black to for the F/A-18.

You will probably just have to experiment with all the textures one by one.  Make sure you make a backup of the original textures before you start.

I have not heard of anyone having this problem before with this plane.  Did you download this from the FSX Military section or the FS9 Military section.  If you got it from FS9 then get the one from FSX.  This also has two or three FSX updates so you will need to see which one works best for you.

Thanks, OK, well I'm downloading the F/A-18E from here but it was in the fs2004 section, I did not find an F/A-18E in the fsx section.

I keep getting "Size Mismatch" download errors when I try to download the files from here.

Man this sucks, all I've tried to do is install some military planes for FSX and all have failed, this just sucks, I love FSX but nothings compatible with it. I've already spent two days trying to figure this out with no luck.  :(

Maybe you skipped over it or something? I have this one and have none of the problems you are talking about. Look a little closer... its there.

Same problem! Blacked out VC.  :(

Well that really doesnt make much sense. I use that hornet quite often.... having SP2 installed, and using Acceleration and Ive never had that problem with this model. The person that uploaded that model also said it tested just fine with SP2. So I dunno.  :-?

Have you tried to download other FSX updated aircraft, do you have the same problem with every FSX updated aircraft that you install?  Do you have this problem with any of the default FSX aircraft that came with FSX?
