Hey all,
I'm new to the forum so forgive me if I overlooked something in the FAQ's, but my FSX is totally useless right now and I'm out of ideas.
Here's the problem: The program boots up, but as soon as I select "fly now" --doesn't matter what aircraft, I get the loading messages, suddenly everything freezes I get a message from Vista saying" Video Driver stopped responding and has recovered" whereupon, the I can hear the engine (responds the the throlttle and everything), wind noises, etc. but the screen is black except for the the title bar. When I reloaded FSX, I noticed it worked (a little jittery) until I loaded Acceleration. then back to the original problem.

Mobo is a Asus P5B. I've got the latest non-beta BIOS on it (1226). Thanks, though.

Well, I give up..I did the full uninstall, re-install (again!) though this time I approached the graphics settings differently and wasn't as aggressive and it works. Sort of. Now I have the classic flickering screen ( a couple of times it blacked out completely), boxes around the lights and random

I've had similar sort of problems, my video card is a GeForce 7200, except it crashes even when im not in FSX, then the screen goes black and it takes around 50 attempts to rebbot sucessfully. I reckon it's a motherboard issue, but unfortuantley the manufacteres havve gone bust, so that's not much help. Im having to buy a new PC.

try first with all low and go up from there

few tips that you may try.
download driver cleaner pro (google)
uninstall everything nvidia and ati related
download latest updates for vista
update directx (microsoft.com/directx)
reboot when needed
update latest intel infs
install latest driver from nvidia.
