What is the default flight that boots up initially with FSX? Somehow this got changed (the kids goofing around, maybe but nobody'll own up to messing with Daddy's machine, of course :o )
I know it started already in-flight, and was above a group of islands. I use this for testing different d/l craft and now can't seem to find it. Don't wanna do a total reinstall or set EVERYTHING back to default values. Just figured someone'd know right off the top of their heads.
Thanks

To change the default flight:
Open up a flight wherever you want the default flight to be, with whatever plane you want to use in he default flight.
Next, press ALT GR, and select 'save flight' from one of the dropdown menus.
Give it some name (doesn't matter) and check the box 'Save as default flight' (or a similar name).
There ya' go

I believe Mick is asking where the original default flight for FSX is set, ie, what airport/location. Not how to change the default flight to somewhere else.
Sorry I can't be of much help as I don't use FSX, have you tried re-booting the kids? That might get some answers.

As Anxyous pointed out you can save any flight as the default flight.
if you want the default-default flight (Trike over Friday Harbor) back, you can edit the FSX.cfg file:
[USERINTERFACE]

The "technically correct" entry is:
SITUATION=FLIGHTS\OTHER\FLTSIM
But, as stated above, if left blank it will be filled in automatically...
BTW, just for information's sake... If you'd like to try other language edition's "default flights," simply look in the ..\Flights\other folder for all of 'em...
Make a copy of any of 'em and rename it FLTSIM.FLT
Be sure to copy and rename the associated weather file to FLTSIM.WX also...

You start in the air with one of those motorised wings over Friday Harbour. It's good visually, but for me it is a bunch of nonsense.
So thank your kids for changing it.
I use one of the fine airfields in FTX Australia, with a GA aircraft as the default.
It is easy to do. when the opening window comes up, change the aircraft, change the airfield (you can actually change it to Friday Harbour if you want), decide whether you will start at a parking spot or the end of the active runway (activate the drop down menu beneath the airport name and you will be surprised at the choice. Then click Save (one of the buttons alond the bottom), give the flight a name, THEN check the "make this my default flight" box and you will never see the silly initial promo default again. why do I call it silly? It requires a newby to catch a plane in flight - even this flying umbrella - keep it under control and land it. Not easy first up.
Return to the main screen click Fly Now and off you go. When ever you start FSX in the future this new flight is where it starts.
When you feel confident you can go into the FSX.cfg and insert a command to stop the game loading the default flight and scenery. Go up to the optimizing stickies at the top of this area of the site to find this "DisablePreload=1" line that is inserted in the [MAIN] section.

I think he simply meant to CTRL + ALT + DEL kids, no sexual actions involved. Maybe also ALT-tabbing them may produce answers as well.
Please keep us on the loop
thanks

Actually I'd assumed that the kids had already been booted in order to try & get some answers, I was simply stating that, as no answers had been forthcoming, then another kicking might not be a bad idea.
Capiche?

My apologies for not being clearer....yes, I was aware of how to make a flight the default flight,...what I wasn't certain of is what the scenery area was of the default flight.
I really like that FSX boots up with the plane "in-flight" over the island area but couldn't for the life of me recall where in the world it was. (I will also take a look at the scenery area someone posted just before this...maybe it's nicer).
As for the kids, they know they're mot supposed to mess around with Daddy's computer (since it's a work computer, also) so we had a little talk about why we have such a house-rule. They're good kids, for the most part, just curious...
Thanks all for your help.
