A31 Autopilot problem

Hi all. I've been trying to fly the A321 lately, and it seems that if I want to use the AP for altitude only, the plane will not turn, even with the heading button off, it just flies straight. If I turn on the heading function, it will go to that heading tho. Anybody have any input on this? Thanks. Rick

I find the Airbus planes harder to fly due to all the fly by wire stuff. But if you set your AP altitude, then click on the AP control for heading twice (turning it on and off) this allows you to fly with full flight controls whilst the aircraft continues on its AP programmed climb or decent. Hope this helps

Or, you could simply press Ctrl-V to turn off the Wingleveler... ::)

Thanks for the responses, but still no joy. I didn't know about Ctrl-V, so I learned something new, which is good. Problem is tho, that it doesn't work on my Airbus. I tried it with some other planes, from the C172 to the 747 and it seemed to work fine, just the A321 seems to stay stuck on level flight.

I am not sure if I understood your problem but in order to completely engage the AP on the A321 it is necessary to turn on also the VOR LOC switch. I had the same problem passing from 737-800 to A321.
Plz correct if I'm wrong cause I'm a noob
cheers

I am also having the same problem I tried the suggestions above ctrl-v also did set AP altitude, then click on the AP control for heading twice (turning it on and off)
And it still will not work, I have this problem only with the default A321.
This problem makes it very difficult to intercept with the Localizer for the ILS Approach, since I must maneuver the Aircraft Manually lining up with the Localizer while my altitude is on AP.
Any other advice?

"Its harder to turn on the like the Heading and Speed hold switches"
Well I figured that out along time ago, and yes I fly Boenigs pretty good, its just I need to turn the AC Manualy some times while I have the AP on for Altitude.
