Beech B1900D got no wings seen from inside VC?!?

I just downloaded the FSX Beechcraft B1900D Regional Airliner Air Labrador Package and I (sadly) noticed I the wings are not modeled for the virtual cockpit?!? :(

Can anyone confirm this?

It's a beautifull model, and very complete, so this is totaly unexpected...

I can see a wing tip over the left shoulder.

I took it out for a test cross country flight yesterday, but didn't notice the wings weren't modeled in the VC model, but then again, I didn't move the eyepoint outside of the cockpit.

This isn't uncommon for designers to not model the whole aircraft for the VC model. This reduces the overall work required, filesize, and improves performance while flying in the VC mode

My understanding is that the VC is part of the whole model.

Just loaded it up, and if you move your eyepoint outside the cockpit while in VC mode, the VC model does include both wings

Well, first I gotta tell you I downloaded the model here http://www.premaircraft.com/B1900D_FSX/index.html, and I sure hope it is the latest release.

Second, is that I use Track IR. Usualy, I only need move my head a bit to the left (like almost touching the window glass) then turn it over. On an Airbus 319 for example, I can see most of the pilot side wing and a bit of the engine. On some models I can even force the head to come out of the cockpit, and on the Beech 1900 I'm sure I didn't see no wings. As far as I'm concern, the VC model, as any 3D model, is a model "of what is to be seen" in there. So usually is has all the cockpit 3D interior, plus passenger cabin interior in the B1900 case, and the wings - no fuselage, no tail. For example, the stock FSX King Air 350 VC, only has cockpit and wings - if you move the eyepoint back past the cockpit door, you'll see only the wings, no cabin. Usually the modeller copy the wings elements from the 3D exterior model and attach them to the VC model keeping its relative distances, for them to be displayed when the pilot looks back to its 8 and 4 o'clock. There are some other models, like say the Airbus 310, that you only see the wing tip, but the VC model has the wings completly drawn, including the engines, even if you can't see them interely. I away from my pc now, but I'll check the B1900D asap, and try to capture a screenshot to show what I see looking to my 8 oc.

I see what you're saying now, and my only question is "why is that a problem?"

The only problem is, as I always fly inside the cockpit, I want to look at my left and see the wing and propeller, like I should in the real world. If I can't see the wing, it looks akward. On a VFR landing pattern, for example, when turning left from downwind to base leg looking at the airport, you gotta see that propeller roaring next to you, don't you?
As I said, I'll check that again asap, but I'm afraid of some videocard issue here :( - I use a NV

Should be easy enough to tweak the eyepoint entry in Aircraft.cfg to do what you want.

This is the original value:

eyepoint=13.267,-1.100,2.607

You can either move it slightly to the left like this;

eyepoint=13.267,-1.500,2.607

or forward like this;

eyepoint=13.867,-1.100,2.607

Either will let you see the port engine but not the starboard one. You will have to experiment to get it exactly how you want it.

Problem solved!
Now I see the wings from the inside of the VC!
The problem was the model I was using was version v15, downloaded from http://www.premaircraft.com/B1900D_FSX/index.html.
I downloaded again, this time from http://www.simviation.com/fsxprops24.htm, and the package has the same name but its bigger and includes version v16.

Now there's a miner issue here: I get a mesage saying textures inter_B1900_norm.bmp and DHC6_LFuse.bmp are missing.
Anyone knows about these missing files? The first is probably the cockpit floor textures...
You can try checking this out adding the following to your fsx.cfg:

Code: Select all
[Scenery]
ShowMissingTextureAlert=1

Very usefull when testing new paints.
Thanks for all your help.

Does anyone happen to have this missing texture named inter_B1900_norm.bmp, from some previous release or something? It's probably some cockpit floor texture.

I tried to contact the guys at PREMIER AIRCRAFT DESIGN but my e-mail got undelievered...

Thanks in advance.

Looking back at this picture, I wonder...

Why don't we see the winglet on the wingtip?

I noticed that when I posted the shot. Presumably winglets were not included in the VC model.
