gauges suppose to be for FSX!

Okay, I appreciate all the hard work that goes into making new panels and all. I really do. But I am getting very tired of installing aircraft and panels that are supposedly FSX compatible only to get the message "this gauge was created for FS98 or earler, and is not compatible" about a hundred times when I try to load the airplane. What is the deal with these? Am I missing something here? Is there suppose to be something in a service pack somewhere that makes these gauges work? Or should I not even bother? I mean, I just downloaded an F-16 panel that was all about FSX. It was the "new" F-16 panel for FSX.....and it didn't work. The A-10 Thunderbolt II. Again, for FSX. But the panel won't work. Is it somehow my system? Is anyone else having these problems?

I'm not sure, but it's possible that these gauges may be compatible with FSX, and not SP2...?

I'm with you. I've had the same problem with some planes also. They claim that they are FSX compatible but they are not fully compatible.

It seems that FSX asks you to if it's ok to load any 3rd party gauge, regardless of it's compatibility, or incompatibility. It is annoying, and I wish FSX wouldn't ask you to run it EVERY SINGLE addon gauge.
If it works, show the gauge and run it. If it doesn't, don't...

I fully agree and understand the frustration. I hate when they claim the product is working in FSX but when you load her up you get dozens of error messages.
It's rather clear that there is a difference in people's understanding of what is workable and what is not.
FSX SP1 and SP2 IMO is nearly two different products taken in consideration the effectiveness of the add-ons. Wish we had a download section just for SP2.

Same here,
it often happens the above mantioned, all gauges are absolutelly not compatible despiting the authors say are fsx compatible.
I wonder if they are aware or not that their job is yes very well done but useless in FSX.

Please make sure you don't blame the wrong person. Most of these incompatible gauges are included with FS9 addons which have been quickly updated to work in FSX without the original author's consent. This usually involves little more than a few CFG tweaks & a thumbnail in the Texture folder so they appear on the selection menu. They obviously haven't been tested properly. Most of these gauges are incompatible with the FSX Demo so it's nothing to do with SP2.

I didn't blame anyone in particular cause I can't know if a job is republished by someone who is not the original author. I only highlighted the fact that internet is full of gorgeous jobs that do not work on FSX even if they are under the FSX download section. This causes a huge waste of time and sometimes it may also happen that something goes wrong cause of the incompatibility.
The ones who uploaded such mistakes and also the final users should be warned to avoid to waste time on both sides, IMO.

Unfortunately that is the problem. This leads to the original authors being blamed for something that is out of their control. I can understand them being a tad upset about the situation but unless they ask for the files to be removed not much can be done about it.
This causes a huge waste of time and sometimes it may also happen that something goes wrong cause of the incompatibility.
It might be annoying but it's unlikely to cause any lasting damage. Simply remove the offending panel or (if you know how to do it) modify it to use compatible gauges.

If it works, show the gauge and run it. If it doesn't, don't...

This is just typical M$ :-?

I've been complaining about this since the very early FSX days, anobody ever cared, from ACES or from here. Those popups are the stupidest things ever seen in the whole history of the video game. :-X

If you are talking about the F-16 panel update under theSimviation FSX/Panels download section I had the same problem, all the gauges appear to not work with FSX. I tried this before I had any service packs, with SP1 and later with SP2, it never worked. I emailed the panel maker twice asking if I had done something wrong and I never got an answer.
