My Traffic X has run quite well for me, but I had to uninstall it.

Put the Traffic 2005 back on and I`ll go look for the link that fixes it.  Short and sweet, sorted in no time.

EDIT:

Ok, download from this link;

[ftp]ftp://80.68.88.211/jf/free_updates/Traffic2005FSX-Scenery-Traffic200
5AFD-Scenery.zip[/ftp]

Extract to a folder on your desktop and keep this as an archive for the next time you reinstall. Go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Scenery\Traffic2005AFD\Scenery and select all in that location, then delete them.

Copy the contents of the desktop folder minus the actual zip file you downloaded.  Paste them into the scenery folder as above, where you deleted the contents.  Et Voila, jobs a good un, money is rubbish!  Start FSX and sorted!

If you're referring to the FSX GA Traffic file from here:

The .txt files are not put into FSX. They are the 'Traffic Tools source files' that supply the data to compile the .bgl files.

Thanks both of you.  ICI your blood should be bottled - the fix for the AFDs has solved everything.

Dave3c I'm not quite sure how to do this.  Do I put the entire Default GA zip into TTools as a 'package' and get it to compile it from there.

One thing about FSX it has forced me to learn a lot of basics that I didn't need with my computer that was overspecified for FS9 and totally underpowered for FSX.

When the new CPUs and GPUs arrive in your summer, our winter, then I may have a computer for the first time that will allow me to run FSX as it is intended, or badly designed, to do.

There's no need to run the .txt files thru TTools. Just place the .bgl files in your ..\Scenery\World\scenery\ folder.

There is one gotcha: The GA traffic .bgl files and all of the WoAI traffic .bgl file are in FS9 format.

While FS9 traffic .bgl files will work in FSX, they will cause FSX to 'disable' any traffic .bgl files in FSX format. This includes the default airplane traffic and large boat traffic. (This is why you lost your default airline AND GA traffic when you installed WoAI files). You would also loose any addon ai traffic that is in FSX format.

If you're planning on running only FS9 traffic files (WoAI and The GA traffic) there's no problem (except you lose the large ships/ferries traffic).

If you're also going to use FSX traffic files you'll have to convert the FS9 files to FSX format. If this is the case I can point you to the AIFPC compiler that will allow you

Thanks for that Dave3c.  I would like to do the next two steps separately.

I shall remove all of the WOAI and Default GA bgls from the ..../Scenery file.

I presume that would mean that Traffic 2005(FSX) would then run without being blocked by the FS9 files.

Then I would like to learn how to turn the WOAI in particular into FSX formats so they can run together.

Originally the traffic.bgl file in Traffic2005 was of an FS9 format and due to talk on the subject it was changed to FSX format in a later patch, Traffic2005 SP1.

One drawback, if using TTools you cannot use the FSX version to decompile and split the traffic.bgl into the necessary three data files, airports, aircraft and flightplans.  this is only necessary should you want to manually introduce new aircraft, new airports and/or new flightplans.

Fear not, I have a workaround which also fixes the problems in the other threads with WOAI too.  Copy the traffic.bgl and place it in a backup folder somewhere safe-clearly labeled as an FS9 type .bgl file.  Then download (free and small) bglfpfsxconvert.  What goes in at one end as FS9 comes out the other end as FSX type format.  Ships and ferries are back!

Its midday here and I am at work so I will try the converter tonight.

However I went back to WOAI and the default GA because Traffic didn't pre position aircraft at airports (they only arrived) and they still have one Australian airline that went broke years ago.

However if I could mix Traffic flights with WOAI by making all bagels FSX then it could be a fun mix.  However I will have to learn how to make AI Smooth work, because the airlines would go nuts if there were as many real world ATC induced go-rounds at major airports as they have in the sim.  What is it with that silly voice in AI Smooth, is it meant to take over from ATC or something?

Roll on a genuine Traffic X, or My Traffic truly for X, or Ultimate Traffic X.
