747 Airspeed

Well, at the moment I'm flying my default 747. But the problem is the airspeed is 0. The backup and map say 0. What's wrong? All I have done so far is to change the altimeter to 1001, that's what ATC said.

You must not have heard correctly 10.01 is outrageously low. I would buy 30.01. check the recent messages tab on the kneeboard it will have a text representation of all your atc chatter. also check your pitot heat. if  they froze up you will get no airspeed indication.

...not if you're using metric-1001 millibars.  ;)

Richard, you may have an iced pitot tube.

I'm not familiar with the 747 panel. I don't see a 'pitot heat' switch, but I see it has an anti-icing switch(left end of 2D overhead). Try turning it on to deice the pitot.

I love the  heavies, been flying the 747 for some time.... 8-)

I think you may be correct, I had the same problem a few times until I tried the antiice option...NickN has a great short tutorial on the operation of the default 747, (posted somewhere in the forum) and it includes turning on the anti ice....I'm sure he included it for a reason!
