Have searched posts for the black band at bottom in FSX. Have it in addon f-16 plus the stock helo that comes with fsx. Have tried matching fsx & control panel resolution, changing y= to 6153 and render line from 1 to 0 (f-16 doesn't have the render line in window00 but is in all window100XX lines). Machine has 2gb, 2.33 Dual-Core, Intel GMA 3100 on mother board. Suggestions would be appreciated.

The render_3d_window=1 entry is the usual cause of this problem with FS9 panels in FSX. Try changing all those values to 0 or delete/remark the entries.

Hagar - appreciate the help, removed all render lines with no change. I do not experience the black bands on my laptop which is a less capable machine. The desktop I referenced in my original post was built with FSX in mind & has more memory & CPU speed than the laptop but does have the GMA 3100 on the mother board. Could the video driver be the problem? Thanks

The typical black band problem affects the display in all views. This is caused by some FS9 panels in FSX. Usually that render_3d_window= line in Panel.cfg. If you tell me exactly where to download the F-16 you're talking about I can check it out.
I note you said the FSX default helicopter also has these black bands. This usually affects aircraft with 3rd party panels only. Can you post some screenshots of the problem.

I believe there's a fix in the forums at AlphaSim.

Hagar - F16 is the Viper from simviation.com. Will get screenshots tonight.
Anxyous - Thanks will check it out.
Both - I'll put in prospective, I'm an old guy (60) real new to the flight simulator world with 22 years in the back seat of the real ones (F-4 & F-14) with the US Navy.
Thanks for the help.
