GPS GONE!!!!

Hi Folks,

Sorry if this has already been asked of you, but I don't have time today to go through all of the previous posts.
I'm wondering if any of you has experienced this problem and happen to know of a quick fix short of a re-install.
I was adding some freeware aircraft, being careful not to overwrite any guages...although I have to confess there is a remote possibility that I might have, and when I started to play the game I noticed that my GPS would not work anymore....even in planes that came with the game.
All that happens when you turn it on, using either the cockpit icon or the tool bar at the top of the screen is a quick black flicker where the display would normally show up....then it's gone in a split second.

What have I done?
Is this a common problem?
Is there a quick fix?
Do I have to re-install FSX and the Acceleration Pack to get my GPS back again?

Thanks in advance.
Hoping to hear back from you soon.

I've deliberately removed the GPS from aircraft panels, but it isn't a problem. I've pretty much figured it out... ;D

But seriously, is the fs9gps.cab gauge file still in your gauges folder?

I can't answer that right at this moment. But what I am running is FSX plus the Acceleration Pack.
But, if the fs9gps.cab gauge file should be gone is there a place where I can get it without doing a complete re-install.
I did see a problem like this with FS 98 years ago and the only way I could find to fix it was dump the game and put it back in.
Now, I am trying to avoid that...it's a nuisance when you are trying to keep many add ons.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

Have you tried opening it from your alt menu bar in the flight?

Yes I have....I have also tried the icons in the cockpits...nothing.
It's the same thing in all views....you ask for GPS a black rectangle roughly the size of what the gauge should be flickers for a split second then it's gone.
I even went so far as to move the displays ie. The main panel etc to see if for some reason the guage was opening behind the main image...nothing.

Like I said...I saw something like this before in FS 98...when I was running 2002 deluxe it never happened once.
When it occured in FS 98 I ended up having to do a very long and very tedious re-install...I'm hoping to avoid that this time.

Thanks
