747 keeps stalling?

I normally dont fly 747's but for some reason ive tried 2 times now and everytime im climbing if I set the feet per minute to high my airspeed goes down (ap is on, auto throttle, and speed hold) and the nose just goes up 40 degress then it starts to stall..?

Is there a certain way to fly a 747 or has anyone had this problem?

Im not pressing anything it just randomly does it..?

Thanks ;)

This happens to me during descend. Speed just suddendly plumits to 0, and well, you can guess what happens.

You fly it like any other airplane. By pitch and power.

If it's stalling then the pitch is too high and the airspeed bleeds off. Turn the auto-pilot off and fly it.

If you insist on using the auto-pilot before you know how to fly it, then think about why it's stalling. If the auto-pilot is holding the pitch too high, then you need to turn the vertical speed down.

A 747 will hold an incredibly high vertical speed at lower altitudes.. however, as the altitude increases, the air gets thinner and even at full thrust the vertical speed needs to be lowered.

All of this of course depends on the passenger and fuel load.

Fully loaded it should comfortably hold 3000fps well over 10,000msl. Over 20,000msl, you should be climbing at well under 3000fps and as you near 30,000msl, the vertical speed should be near 1000fps or less.

Just keep an eye on the airspeed.. keep it WELL above 200kias by lowering the vertical speed as needed.

It would be whole lot more fun and educational though, if you learned to fly it first, and then use the auto-pilot.

All those hours you spent mastering piloting fundementals in the smaller, slower planes will serve you well ... you'd know what stall speed was, and how not let the plane get that slow

Am I on Candid Camera ?

Ok..  back to basics. If you really want to learn about pitch, power and airspeed.. and how to fly an airplane.. I'd be happy to help, but you've GOT to read what I post. We've done this in s few other threads. I know you're not intentionally ignoring me,, I just think you're impatient and only see what you want to see.

You just asked this:

And also is there a way to fix the speed from going down on its own other than not flying it on your own or no?

And in my previous post, I said this:

Just keep an eye on the airspeed.. keep it WELL above 200kias by lowering the vertical speed as needed.

And, msl stands for , "mean sea level".. it's your altitude, it's displayed on the altimeter.

If I understand the question, no.  The more nose up at a constant thrust, the more your airspeed is going to drop. That's physics.

If you want something that's big, climbs like a bat out of hell, I would suggest one of the science fiction space craft from the miscl section.

I fell in the same trap as when I started I also wanted to fly a 747 :)
I gave up, downloaded a Mirage IIIE and learnt to fly that as all you have to be carefull of here is blacking out or over stressing the aircraft.
I figured out all the guages, tha AP, ILS and all the instrumentation stuff etc, simply because it happens quickly or you in the deck.
I was then advised by a 'real' instructor to go learn to fly a Mooney as it behaves very similarly the the large heavies.
Now I'm ok (to a degree) with the heavies, but as Nick says... "40 degrees on a 747??  geezzzz" hehe... well thats kinda pushing your luck a teeny bit over the top :)

Ill be honest with you, I read through the guides of your tutorial but what im not getting is which one would help me with climbing?
I clicked on the climbing one which is part 4 but it was talking about a climbing turn.

Maybe there are diffrent tutorials in the game I should try helping me out..?
