You have to edit the virtual cockpit textures using the DXTBMP tool.
Your issue is exactely the same than the "black canopy" problem, but in the other sense. It's transparent and you want to make it opaque. Inverting the Alpha Channel of this (these?) texture(s) will solve your problem normally.

The only thing that worries me is the total absence of gauges in there. Normally, even with transparent textures, the gauges should appear...

Thanks for the advice, altho as Unknown mentions SP2 I presume thats more likely the issue I have with my game....altho I do have an A10 with a black canopy, your advice about the DXTBMP tool will be relevent to that by the sounds of it. I'll look for the tool in the meantime. thanks for your reply.

It would help to know exactly where these files are posted so someone can check them out for you. I suspect that they are FS9 aircraft hastily updated to work in FSX. From my experience of this type of file it's quite likely that the VC won't function properly & any included gauges will not be compatible with FSX.

thinking from memory I think I found skins in the FSX section that had links to where the models were....they could well be FS9 models. Are there any F15s that are fully compatible with FSX (VC, gauges, etc?). Like the F14 I downloaded that is absolutely superb.

thanks for the link, I havn't got SP1 yet either as I'm concerned about the need for a fresh install. They guide mentions it's best to install on a fresh install, because add ons can effect it. All I've got is some planes, would I still need a fresh install?
