NAVIGATION QUESTIONS/HELP

Postby Q-Kid-Kyle » Wed May 28, 2008 7:30 pm

Hello. First, if you read all this, bless your little soul for helping a newbie like me. I need all the help I can get with navigation in the game. All I can figure out is the compass points. And so the questions begin - What is the little pink box-thing for? What is the pink line for? What is the green line for ? What is the green line segment parallel to the green line for? How do I know where I am map-wise? How can I label airports in free flight? Lakes? Cities and Towns? I live in Canada, Eh?*snicker snicker* in Simcoe, Ontario, which is about 15 minutes from Port Dover - Friday the 13th Capital of North America - so I start at Hamilton Airpot. I go south to lake erie, and follow the shoreline west to find port dover. Now, I haven't made it to port dover (took too long in a bush plane, so i quit), but how would I know when I was there? Like, can I make my own little pre-planned path using software. And finally, I SWEAR LAST QUESTION(S)! How do you use the frickin' flight planner? i tried to tell it to take me from Hamilton airport to Toronto City Center. I save the plan, and start the flight. No visuals, no instructions, no anything. How does it work? Or can somebody point me to a manual for it. Thank you for any questions you can answer, let alone reading all of this

First off, welcome to SimV... :)

I would highly suggest browsing down to the Flightschool board here, and reading some of the discussions, especially the Sim Flight Training series by Brett Henderson.

As for the flight planner, ATC won't give you instructions unless you file an IFR flightplan, and you still need to know how to navigate to point A to point B

The flight planner, as far as I know, is how you make pre-planned flights. To bring up your flightplan in flight, you should use the GPS; it's accessible in most planes by pressing Shift+3. In the GPS, the big pink line is your planned flightpath. I do almost all of my navigation with the GPS; it's really easy to learn.

Welcome to the forums
