Press 'R' to select the sim rate, and then use the +/- keys to adjust the rate.
If you increase more than 4x speed, the AI traffic will dissapear, and when you switch back to less than 4x, there will be a popup for building AI flights again.

Well I pressed R but nothing happened so I looked on the options when I pressed ALT and then I found the sim rate there. Is there anything that pops out when I press R that isnt working? :-?

If you press R, nothing happens, you just "select" the sim rate. Then with +/- you adjust it.
