Multiplayer addon planes not recognized?

If my buddy and I use add-on planes in multiplayer they always seem to be visually displayed from the other plane as one of the original MS planes that come with FSX. I'm assuming then, that this is normal and the question comes up .... is there a way to edit one of the files to actually get the add-on plane to show up as the unique aircraft that it actually is?? :-?

This has always been an issue with the Multiplayer in Flightsim. Since you don't have the particular model that your friend is using, your system is going to use a model that is in your hangar. The solution is to download and install the same models that you two are going to use, otherwise that's what is going to happen

Griz',
If your connecting using the FSHost Client for FSX you can right click on the other player in the chat window and select one of your ac to show. Don't know if this is available using FSX Multiplayer.
Else: For the other player aircraft in multiplayer your sim looks through your installed aircraft, including ai, to find a match to the 'title=XXXX' line in the [fltsim.X] sections of the aircraft.cfg files.

Thanks Dave,
I can see that understanding FSX is an evolving process with always something you can tweak. It seems that half the time when I really have it working well I tweak it one more time which is the straw that breaks the camel's back and I have to then back up 3 paces. At least the
overall process is moving forward!!
Thanks for the help .....
