 Here's one I hadn't seen before......It seems that when I taxi to a gate at night I will lose the arrows.  Not always but some of the time.  If I go to spot view and change to a side view of the aircraft then the arrows show up; as soon as I return to the rear view, no arrows.  Any suggestions...no the arrows won't fit there.

There are problems with the progressive taxi function in FSX due to bugs in the program intself, and with some video cards & drivers.

I had disappearing progressive taxi arrows during the day as well as at night.  This was due to a DX10 issue and was solved by unchecking "DX10 preview" in the settings.

 I have a DX10 card but never did use that feature in FSX.  I think that Esselbach has hit it on the head.
