FSWC is coming!

The website is now up and running. It features lots of screenshots and comparisons as well as a detailed description of how FSWC works.

FSWC will enhance the default FSX water and is fully compatible with all addons, including Flight Environment X, Ultimate Terrain X and Real Environment Xtreme. It gives the user complete control over the look of the shader effects including reflection intensity, texture colour intensity, sun and moon specular intensity and moon glow intensity.

We'd also like to announce a collaboration with the Real Environment Xtreme team. FSWC will have the capability to be controlled by the forthcoming REX weather engine, so your water will truely reflect reality! Check the website for more details and screenshots.

enjoy...  :D

To be fair, that was copied from the FSW announcement that Paul made.  Only change was that smiley, and I replaced his name with mine, lol.

Sounds good.  Do you have to have a specific water setting in FSX (low 1.x, mid 2.x, etc...) turned on that would affect performance?

Congrats Ashton and Paul!

I would run a minimum of 2xLow.. higher is better but no lower than 2xLow

2xMed produces cloud reflections, 2xHigh adds the shore reflections and MAX produces more fluid water all the way around, as I recall

What Nick said ;).

Basically, it works on the water reflections, so the water must be set to 2x Low minimum, though higher looks better of course ;).

Realllllly love this program! Helps reduce the horrible (IMO) sun reflections off the ocean.

I like the sun reflections as they are -- would I be able to keep them with this Water Configurator ?

You can adjust the reflections and everything on it. Stronger or lighter reflections.

Wii's right.

Essentially, you can start off with settings much like FSX's default water, then tweak from there ;).

Profile system allows you to store profiles when you create ones you like, so you can use them again, and again, and again, and well, you get the idea :D.

Yes if you like the standard sun reflections you can keep them. FSWC is completely user controllable.

As for the water settings, I believe they are as follows:

2x low - only the sky is reflected. FSWC enhanced fresnel reflections make this look much better.

2x mid - sky, clouds are reflected. FSWC can reduce the cloud reflections to make ocean flying more realistic.

2x high - sky, clouds and terrain are reflected. FSWC's enhanced Fresnel reflections can make the terrain reflections more subtle and realistic.

2x max - sky, clouds, terrain and autogen are reflected. FSWC makes the autogen reflections less perfect so a bit more like real water rather than glass.

FSWC in no way effects performance.  8-)

Yeah thats what I meant  ;)

FSWC certainly doesn't make performance worse!

It should be in 'program files/fs water configurator'

do a search for 'fs water configurator.exe'
