Fsx sp2 and acceleration errors

Hello,

After installing fsx acceleration flight simulator would not start up. It would just show the splash screen for a few seconds then say "a fatal error has occurred" :(.  Upon uninstalling acceleration fsx runs fine and opens quickly without any errors
Any help would be great :).

Did you by any chance install the SP2 before Acceleration, because Acceleration includes it?  Maybe a fresh install might help, clean with no third party stuff.  Just FSX and Acceleration with a start of FSX before adding Acceleration.  then add back third party stuff one by one until you hit an error, thats your faulty part.  Slow and logical, but it works.

Hi thanks but I was not very clear in my first post I installed sp2 and got the error. I then uninstalled and it went away. After that I installed acceleration and also got the error. And I dont have any third party add ons  installed.

All I can suggest at this stage is uninstall all of it and reinstall, after uninstalling make sure all folders/files relating to FSX are deleted.

Install Order:

FSX (Deluxe or Standard)
FSX SP1 from FSInsiders or MS
Acceleration (already includes FSX SP2)

If you use FSX Deluxe and want the SDK:

FSX base SDK from FSInsiders
FSX SP1a from the SP1a folder on the Acceleration disk
FSX Acceleration SDK

No other SP`s are to be used with Acceleration and the above are the correct order.  At each stage of the FSX install, FSX should be started to a scenario and then exit.  This so that files can be built at least once before proceeding with the next part.  Same with the last part (Acceleration), start a scenario and then exit, then go back in and try it after its created files.

Update your DirectX9 if not already done, and update your video drivers as well.

There is your answer... the Mobility drivers are not FSX SP2 compliant and most of them will refuse to install if this is a Dell Laptop

Here are the XP Mobility driver verification tool: http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catal ... obility-xp

If your laptop will allow an update that tool will tell you, if not.. the issue is Dell or the laptop manufacture, not FSX

Vista does not provide an update: http://support.ati.com/ics/support/defa ... onID=26978

OK thank you very much it looks like I will have to go to dells website and check and see if they have the driver.

My friend has the exact same computer as i do and it installed acceleration (and fsx sp2) just fine and does not have that error.

Check for a driver update. It sounds to me like that is the problem.

Internet diagnosis is difficult. If after a driver update the problem persists, please post the exact error message and exactly when it occurs.
