FSX FATEL ERROR ONLINE   (Answered but not solved)

Postby SX-II » Sun Apr 20, 2008 7:37 am

I am a very frequent user of flight simulator and also use the online multiplayer through gamespy very often. Howerver, lately I have been getting lots of fatel error messages when I have been half way through a long haul flight or just about to land, or it can not even enter the session. it gets to 100% and says loading complete then freezes. Shortly followed by the fatel error message and fsx restarting. this is possibly one of the most frustrating things that happen to you on fsx so I decided to set out to find out what was happening.
This is a fairly long story of what I did so if you dont have the time to read it just skip to the 5th paragraph

I started my search by googling a short description of what was happening, this gave me dozens of people with the same problem, but they seem to want to put the blame down to the people which join the session... but dont make a very specific point about it. meanwhile on the microsoft forum there is someone with the same problem which was answered as it being a conflict in database scripts with other online players in that session.

I decided to see whether this was true.
I installed fsx/ sp1 and accel onto my laptop. not to play but to observe the session while my desktop (the main fsx computer) was to be in the same session but actually flying. I did this for several hours with the laptop staying in the lobby and the desktop in use flying.

until bam!!  my desktop was hit with the fatel error, I quickly went to my laptop and discovered that someone had just joined the session in a Commercial level simulations A330. I tried to join again which my desktop but it just froze on 100% loading and fatel erorred me again.I went into another session shortly after... yet again I folloed with my laptop into the same multiplayer session. exactly the same happened. someone joined in a commercial level simulations a330 and my desktop frozeand so on.

so I can only put this very annoying message down to people joining in the same session as me in a CLS a330

i PLEED FOR SOMEONE FO FIND A WAY TO FIX THIS, even if other people have found the same problem and dont know anything more please reply to this as we must work together to find a fix.

Thankyou

:D  I am not a pro at multiplayer but I use a different method than you.

http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/fshostspy/
http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/fshost/

The first is a utility to run to find all of the mutiplayer sessions at the time which are on line
The second is the program you use to connect to the session you choose

I am a VA member of SimFly.EU and we use this method with absolutely no problems.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.
