Scenery Compiling? Error

Postby Plugpennyshadow » Fri Mar 28, 2008 7:12 am

I added the scenery "Rag Tag Fleet".  Was watching Battlestar Galactica and came across it...I like BSG!

Anywho...The scenery loaded and displayed fine.  My problem is that, now, every time FSX starts or I attempt to load or remove any scenery I get the following error.

"Scenery.CFG file error.  Remote scenery directory () in scenery not found."

I click OK and the error message goes away and the sim starts or the scenery library updates or recompiles or wipes its shoes or whatever...

Is the above error affecting the game?  If not, it is very annoying.

Any help...?

Hm, I have the same error-message when starting FSX without switching on my ext. Harddrive (where I have my addon scenery), but I haven't noticed any affection jet!

It won't effect the game except that that scenery won't be available. If Meck's situation (scenery on a remote drive that's not active) doesn't apply, then the error indicates that you probably moved or removed a scenery area's folder without first deleting it's entry from the 'SceneryLibrary'.

If you can recall what scenery that might be just delete it from the Scenery Library. If not open the Scenery Library and disable (uncheck) scenery areas 1 by 1 from the top down, clicking OK each time to rebuild the library. When you uncheck the scenery area that is the problem, you'll get no error on that rebuild. Delete that area.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

I uncheched the AddOn Scenery box in scenery library.  Clicked OK and the compile went ahead with no error.  Advice to self:  Delete added scenery from within the Scenery Library utility...

Thanks for the help.

Another question.

Would using the "Repair" option on the FSX install disk correct the problem I am having with the AddOn scenery folder causing the error?

If not, or it isnt a good idea to do this, I can set up another folder with addon scenery?

Thanky
