Anyone use both FSX and FS2004?

I mainly use FSX but have just installed FS2004 because I like some of the planes for download and I like the two expansion packs I have for it.

Although, I doubt FS2004 will get much use.

What about you guys?

Used to have FSX, played it for a few months, got fed up with stutters etc, and went back to FS2004, and I love it

FS9 for the jets...
FSX for low and slow.

Why not keep both for the sake of versatility - FS9 can't be beat for the available addons, and FSX can't be beat for the enhanced realism. When I want to visit busy airports I pick a flight in FS9, and when flying through the Rockies it's an easy switch over to FSX. Everyone's experience in the sim is unique; it's entirely dependent upon your own expectations.

Until I was able to upgrade my computer, I used FS2004 much more often. Now that my computer is upgraded, I use FSX much more often. That being said . . .

I am very grateful to have both programs. I do believe that FSX will go farther in simulation experience than FS2004, but you simply cannot discount the massive amount of resources already available for FS2004.

If I can, I do prefer to use FSX simply for many of the additional features available within the aircraft (compare the FS2004 737 cockpit and the FSX 737 cockpit, and you will notice a greater functionality to the FSX cockpit). But, there are several aircraft available in FS2004 that simply have not become available yet in FSX.

If you do not have to, I wouldn't recommend making yourself choose one or the other. If you can have both, then do so - they each have their respective benefits.

If you did have to choose between one or the either, then I think the discussion shifts away from the software features and more to what kind of hardware you have. Simply put, if you do not have the robust computing hardware that FSX needs to function well, you will not be able to enjoy what it has to offer above FS2004. If you have a very robust system, then FSX will out-perform FS2004 on several levels, and buying FSX then becomes worth your while.

Again, for my part, I am very glad that I am able to own and use both FS2004 and FSX. It just makes the options available to me so much greater, regardless of which one I use more.

I agree with you totally Darrin.

I have the airbus expansion and airliner pilot expansions for FS2004, and I really like the airliner one! If I want to do a free flight or missions I use FSX, but if I want to fly "Airliner Pilot" it has to be FS 2004.

I have all the Sims, from FS '98 to FSX...

...But as most of my flying is done on-line Multiplayer, for reliability and compatibility with other fliers it is always FS 2004...

...!

I've spent too much time, money, and love, on FS 2004 over the years, and most of my design utilities, navigation programs, etc, etc, will not work in my FSX....

It really comes down to which works the best on my present, overall system...

FSX?....sometime... later...perhaps... ::)

Both, IFR multi monitor with FS9, and low and slow VFR with a single monitor for FSX.

If I had a $5K puter I would probably just do the multi monitor FSX only, but I am very happy using both.

Acceleration is a must the Hornet and Mustang are AMAZING!
