Private Pilot Checkride, Downwind Leg?

Postby USMCPayne » Wed Mar 12, 2008 2:03 pm

Hey all, I've finally got my skills up to pass all the requirements up to descending to 1300 ft on the PP Checkride.  It tells me to enter left to the downwind leg.  I'm currently at a heading of 110 and have gone past the airport.  I'm not sure which direction to turn.  It wants me to go to runway 35, however turning any direction at all tells me in orange text to turn back to 110.

Any help please?

I'm visualizing this....

If you're flying 110 toward the airport.. intending to land on runway 35..

Thanks for the response.  Thats how I imagined the flight path to look as well, however, I think I flew over the airport.  I'll have to try it again and see what happens.

I've had problems with the default FSX lessons not triggering the correct instructions.  It does it for me when I do the short field takeoff lesson, I make it through the downwind leg and it never tells me to turn onto base.  It just lets me fly into the mountains, and yells at me if I make the turn.

I just think they are somewhat buggy lessons.  Try flying it again and you may or may not have the problem again. The important part is that you know what your doing and understand the concepts.  Since you said you set your flight plan up as Brett showed you then you seem to have it down.

Yea I just did as was instructed even though the text on the screen kept barking at me to turn back to 110.  I landed and it passed me.  Thanks for the help.
