Does this look good to you?

I'm in Alaska with my new Cargo Pilot company.  A lot of the mountains appear to be covered with mildew.  I've never been to Alaska, but none of the pics I've seen looks like this.  Anybody find a fix for this?  This is near Seward PAWD.

It looks like your textures aren't loading completely or you have the settings down. I don't know if the mountains are supposed ot be 100% covered with snow or what but I know that the 'mildew' like spots are supposed to be sharper. Do you have any environment addons that might change the look of the textures?

When posting things like this... its always best to include a clear shot of the location... LON+LAT+MAG data so it can be seen

Cant tell you anything without knowing the exact location

I use GEXn for textures too and a few other landclass products so what I have I am sure will look different

Hi Thanks for the replies!!

a1:  you're right about textures, and I did some googling and found the tweeks to get the ground looking clear by modifying the cfg files.   I've been using FSX for a month thinking it was supposed to look like that.

NickN:  I have a clear shot showing the location, and another showing the GPS.  If you could have a look at these links (too large for Simv upload), and let me know if GEXn would be different, I would love to know.  Would be worth the purchase if it makes it look natural.  I'm using the "enhanced" FSX USA Ground Textures Package from http://www.simviation.com/fsxscenery3.htm, which looks pretty good in most other areas so far.

Those look great!  I see you have 2 x HIS 3870.  Do you think I'd see a significant improvement if I upgraded to 2 x HIS 3870 from my single 8800GTS 640MB?  My X38 mobo supports crossfire.

I took a short hop out of Seward and this is what I was looking at:

Lat N60 15.17'  Lon W149 38.58

This one is the same area you were in

Thanks Nick for those awesome shots.  Something is definitely not kosher with my winter mountain textures.  Now I have to decide if its bad enough for me to spend money on.   I've already passed the $3K mark on my FSX hobby this year...

try the bufferpools tweak...   8000000 for stutters in turns

stutters in panning view is usually related to the bus being saturated.. TBM too high, frame lock too high or unlimited, or just oo much going on in general and yes the processor will be the center of that

I should have said I eliminated the stutters but I also tweaked my sim settings a little also. Have done nothing in the cfg yet.

I thought about overclocking but am not sure going from 3.2 to 3.44 would make that much difference.

At 3.44 my temps stay at a reasonable rate. I need AMD to get off the pot and bring the new chips out.
