Textures + Vista

Good Morning All,

I had found this information before, but it escapes me now.  To edit the CFG to add a new texture in FSX with Vista, there is something in Vista you have to turn off so that you can save your changes to the CFG.  Does anybody know what that is?  Thank you all in advance.

I'm pretty sure you can just press save but to do a save as you must save it to the desktop (or another place) and move to the correct folder.
i.e.
C:\Users\username\Documents put the cfg there and move it to
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9 and overwrite/backup the old one. But I am 100% positive you can just click save and that will work.

What message is it giving you??? Are you on an administrators account? It should work and simply pop up asking you if you really want to do this.

If this is not the error you are getting than it is a different problem. Just have it save to the other folder and drag it from there to your FSX main folder.

...and now you know why I've NEVER used the "default path" when installing any FS title...  ;D

E:/FS9
E:/FSX

Under Vista, I simply rightclick on the entire Folder and set the Permissions for full access to Everyone.

If all else fails, change it to save as 'all files' instead of the default .txt, then save it to the desktop.  Place the original in a safe place, then cut the one from the desktop and replace it in the working folder.  From now on you will be allowed to make changes to the file in the working folder without saving to the desktop.

:D  Start\Control Panel\ Classic view\User accounts\"Turn User Account Control Off", last on list, click to open.
